Tax Credits for Historic Preservation

Harford County, along with the State of Maryland and the Federal Government, provide financial and tax incentives to those individuals who accept the task of rehabilitating a historic property.

The building must be a certified historic structure, defined as having at least one of the following official designations:

  • Individually listed in the National Register of Historic Places
  • A contributing resource within a National Register Historic District
  • A Harford County Historic Landmark (local designations)
  • A property located within a certified heritage area and certified by the Maryland Heritage Area Authority as contributing to the significance of the certified heritage area.
